The Dottie Project

Narrative Inspired 2D Platformer (Released by early January 2024)

The Dottie Project is a 2D platformer where the player's choice of approach changes the narrative ending and how they'll proceed through the rest of the game. With two primary powers and four hidden passive powers to find, they'll find numerous ways to play the same game. 

There were many challenges to overcome as a 2-man team, and we are both proud to present and release this game to the public as our first true step into the game design industry.  I was the primary designer on all fronts for this project, meaning I acted as the only Game Designer, Level Designer, Narrative Designer, Sound Designer, Artist, Animator, and Playtest Coordinator.

Our Goal

With the Dottie Project, we set the goal for ourselves to teach this as a learning experience along the road to establishing our start-up, Paradise Inc., and oh boy were there things to learn. Our small timeline grew bigger and bigger with new complications, setbacks, and outside commitments that stemmed from the 2 man team we had. If one man was out, that was half the work being done every day, and quickly our 2-month deadline grew to 6. Despite that, we both got to test ourselves as a team and as designers.

With the challenges now conquered, we learned a lot about the production pipeline, we gained new skills, and discovered plenty about ourselves and our work ethics. It was a step well worth taking together.
